The Chapter House Choir is seeking singers and has announced details of a new bursary scheme.
In recent years the choir has commissioned a number of new works from composers such as Bob Chilcott, Gabriel Jackson, Judith Bingham and Alexander L'Estrange; been a guest choir at the Association of British Choral Directors annual Gala Concert; sung at Westminster Abbey and worked with David Hill (Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers).
Plans for coming seasons include a concert with The King’s Singers, a rare performance of Francis Jackson's Daniel in Babylon and a concert of Latin American Baroque music-all in York Minster.
The Chapter House Choir is seeking singers in all voice parts to join its main body of singers and/or augment the choir for specific projects.
The choir numbers 36 singers, many of whom travel some distance to rehearse with the choir on Tuesday evenings in central York between 7 and 9pm.
Singers should possess strong musicianship, sight-reading skills, a sense of humour and a delight in new challenges. To arrange an audition please contact us.
Choral Scholarships 2015-16
The Chapter House Choir, York is offering a number of bursaries to talented young choral singers aged 18-25 in full time education to join its main body of singers. The choir rehearses on Tuesday evenings in central York. The Chapter House Choir is a highly-respected amateur chamber choir directed by Stephen Williams. It has a long association with York Minster.
