CONCERTS 2010 - 2011 SEASON
The Chapter House Arts Society, as the choir was originally called, was formed by Minster Songmen and their wives to raise funds for the York Minster Appeal in 1965. It is now established as one of the country’ s leading amateur chamber choirs, and is now in its 43rd season. As part of the musical life of York Minster, we have the enviable good fortune of rehearsing and performing in the wonderful acoustic of the Chapter House of the Minster. Our director of music is Stephen Williams, ably supported by our assistant director Sam Gardner.

Choral Favourites

St Mary's Church, Lastingham
Come and listen to some classic choral favourites in this beautiful setting on the southern edge of the North York Moors.
The church stands on the site of the seventh century Celtic monastery. It has undergone a number of radical changes, nine altogether. The existing building dates from 1078, and is famous for its unique apsidical Norman crypt.
